The University of Findlay softball team split a pair of games against Ashland University on Saturday, April 6 at Anderson Field. The Oilers fell by a score of 4-3 in game one before winning the second game 5-4 in nine innings. Findlay now sports a 15-9 mark on the year with a 3-7 GLIAC record.

Brittany Dauterman took the loss in the opener, giving up four runs on seven hits with two walks. She fanned four batters in seven innings.

Six Oilers generated one hit each in game one. Tawna Whited and Jenna Motuza both added one RBI.

The Oilers had runners on the corners in the top of the seventh in game two and an Ashland error plated both Tori Allen and Motuza to tie the game at four.

Two frames later, Motuza singled to right field and later stole second. Dauterman's double down the right field line scored Motuza for the 5-4 victory over Ashland.

Whited picked up her sixth win as she struck out nine Eagles and allowed six hits with five walks, going the distance for Findlay in the process.

Dauterman and Motuza each had three hits in game two. Dauterman and Morgan Arnold produced two and one RBI, respectively.

The April 7 doubleheader against Malone will be rescheduled for later in the season. Therefore the Oilers will host Wayne State on Wednesday, April 10. The conference twinbill is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
