The University of Findlay softball team swept Lake Erie College in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 20. The Oilers won the opener 12-0 and swept the Storm 11-0 in the second contest. The wins improve Findlay's record to 23-9 on the season with an 11-7 mark in the conference action.

Before the twinbill started, the senior softball players, Brittany Dauterman, Lauren Mathias, Jenna Motuza and Carly Borders, were recognized for their efforts on the field during their careers as Oilers.

Dauterman picked up the victory in the lid lifter, allowing just one hit while fanning nine batters in the shutout. She also had two hits and a RBI in the contest.

Borders also produced two hits as well and added four runs batted in during the opener.

Motuza's impressive in-the-park home run sparked the Oiler offense in game two. Emily Stewart went 3-for-3 at the plate, including three RBI.

In the second contest, Tawna Whited and Bonnie Zappitelli combined to pitch a no-hitter for the Oilers. Whited contributed to the Findlay offense as well with a triple and home run in addition to four runs-batted-in.

Motuza generated a milestone during today's doubleheader as she broke the Findlay career hits record of 171 by Samantha Bradburn (1986-89) with a new record of 174 career hits.

Findlay will host Walsh University for a doubleheader tomorrow, April 21. The GLIAC game is slated for noon at Anderson Field.
