Oilers Announce Early Signees

Seven student-athletes signed national letters of intent to play softball at Findlay during the November period. The signees include Hayley Apple of Big Walnut High School, Madison Arnold from Elmwood, Kelley Cejer from Highland, Cassidy Ghesquiere of Sylvania Northview, Chelsea McManaway from Wellston, Maria Pappano from Green, and Lauren Yacks of Rock Canyon High School in Littleton, Colorado.

Apple is a third baseman-outfielder who led her team with eight home runs last season while being named the team's best defensive player for the second time. Arnold, who plays outfield, was named First Team Northern Buckeye Conference and All-Wood County. Cejer is a catcher who earned All-Suburban League and All-Mahoning County, as well as the Coach's Trophy on a team that belted 31 homers last season. Ghesquiere, a utility player, has earned both All-Northern Lakes League and All-District Honorable Mention honors for her play at three different positions.

McManaway, a pitcher, was named First Team Tri-Valley Conference as well as TVC Defensive MVP, First Team All-District and First Team All-Ohio, and was a Wendy's High School Heisman recipient. Pappano has earned two letters as a utility player and pitcher in the Suburban League. Yacks, a middle infielder, was First Team All-Continental League and team MVP while Rock Canyon was Regional Champion each year, reaching the State Final Four on three occasions.

Head Coach Ron Ammons, entering his 12th season with the Oilers, remarks "We are fortunate to have signed this quality group of young ladies. Our previous classes have set a high standard both athletically and academically, and we need the type of talent that can sustain and enhance that standard."
