UF Softball Team Opens Season, Goes 1-1 on Day 1

The University of Findlay softball opened the season in Clermont, Fla. on March 4 with one win and one loss.  The Oilers defeated the University of Sciences by a score of 5-1 and dropped a 5-0 decision to Florida Tech University.

In their win, Tawna Whited picked up the victory on the mound by striking out eight hitters in seven innings.

Lauren Trumpler had a big game at the plate and finished with a triple, two runs scored and a RBI.

Anna Britvec tripled and scored in the game and Courtney Dwyer had a double, one run batted in and one run scored to lead the offense.

Against Florida Tech, Nicole Motuza picked up the loss on the mound after allowing four runs in five innings of work.

Megan Turner doubled and Jackie Messersmith singled for the Oilers for their only two hits.

The Oilers will return to the field tomorrow to battle Quincy and Mary in a two-game set.
