Oilers Lose Doubleheader Against Wayne State

The University of Findlay softball team traveled to Detroit, MI to face 14th ranked Wayne State University.  The Oilers lost the two-game set against the Warriors losing in a nail biter 2-1 while coming up short in the second game in extra innings 3-1.  The double loss against Wayne State gave the Oilers a 13-10 mark on the season. 

In the first game, Tawna Whited picked up the loss on the mound, giving up two runs in six innings.  Whited contributed on the offensive end with a double.   

The Warriors took a 2-0 lead through three innings and Emily Stewart tried to bring the Oilers back with an RBI single in the fourth inning.  Unfortunately, that was the only run the Oilers could muster as they came up short on the comeback finishing the game with five hits. 

Tori Allen added a double and a single and Megan Turner added a single in the contest. 

In the second game, Tawna Whited picked up the loss on the mound, giving up three runs in ten innings. 

The game was scoreless through five innings until both teams scored a run in the sixth inning and Emily Reynolds drove in the run for the Oilers on an RBI double.  The Oilers bats struggled throughout the game and they were unable to capitalize on their hitting. 

Emily Stewart had a double while Whited had a single in the contest. 

The Oilers return to the field on Saturday when they host Lake Superior State University in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
