Reynolds Comes Up Big As Oilers Split Doubleheader At Ashland

The University of Findlay softball team traveled to Ashland, Ohio to face Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Ashland University in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 23.  Ashland defeated the Oilers in the first game 3-2 while the Oilers won the second game 2-0. 

In the first game, Tawna Whited picked up the loss on the mound, giving up three runs in 6.1 innings.  Whited also led the offense for the Oilers by contributing an RBI double and a single. 

The Oilers held a 2-0 lead through six innings, but in the bottom of the seventh the Eagles knocked in three runs to claim the victory. 

Emily Reynolds finished the game with a double and one run scored while Megan Turner contributed a double. 

In the second game, Bonnie Zappitelli picked up the victory on the mound by allowing zero runs and striking out three hitters in seven innings. 

In the bottom of the first inning, Emily Reynolds smashed a two-run homerun to take a 2-0 lead.  After Reynolds two-run shot, the game remained scoreless and the Oilers cruised to the victory. 

 Courtney Dwyer and Morgan Arnold each had a single in the contest. 

The Oilers, who are now 20-15 on the year with an 11-11 mark in GLIAC play, will host GLIAC foe Ferris State University in a doubleheader on Friday, April 25 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
