Lakers Defeat Oilers in 2nd Round of GLIAC Tourney
The University of Findlay softball team lost 8-4 to Grand Valley State University in the second round of the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on May 2 at Iriti Field. The loss drops the Oilers record to 23-18 season.
The Oilers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Lakers quickly answered with three runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the second to open the game up at 6-2.
Jackie Messersmith had two hits and scored two runs to lead the offense while Emily Reynolds had a hit and scored two runs.
Tawna Whited took the loss on the mound for Findlay by allowing eight runs on 11 hits in six innings of work.
The Oilers will now play Ashland University tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. on Anderson Field.
