3 UF Softball Players Compete Against Team USA

Team USA visited the Marathon Diamond complex on June 17 for a softball exhibition doubleheader against a squad of Ohio college all-star players. Three UF softball players participated in the event, which saw Team USA win by scores of 3-0 and 5-0.

Graduated seniors Tori Allen, Jackie Messersmith and Emily Reynolds from the Oilers played against Team USA in front of a crowd of 4,000.

The group of Ohio all-stars managed only five hits in the two games, one of them coming from Reynolds.

Allen ended her career as one of the top hitters in the history of the Oilers softball program. She ranks first all-time in the Oilers record book with 50 doubles, 68 walks and 559 at bats. She also ranks second all-time in runs scored (138), hits (185), total bases (302) and runs batted in (129).

Messersmith was a defensive force for the Oilers at third base and hit .306 with 45 runs scored as a senior. Her run total was the second highest mark in school history for a season.

Reynolds was named honorable mention all-conference as a senior and finished her final year with three home runs and 28 runs batted in.
