The University of Findlay women's softball team won a twin bill today against Notre Dame College and Lynn University, which took place on Wednesday, March 4 in Clermont, Florida.  The Oilers defeated Notre Dame College in dramatic fashion winning 3-2 in extra innings then went on to wallop Lynn University 10-0.  The twin bill sweep today gives the Oilers a 5-4 record on the young season. 

In the first game, Jenna Inman started the game on the mound giving up one earned run, four hits and striking out three hitters in four innings pitched.  In the fifth inning, Chelsea McManaway took the mound and pitched four scoreless innings and struck out nine hitters to give her the win. 

The Oilers were down 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning with their backs against the wall.  The Oilers got on the board when Kelsey Borders knocked in an RBI single to center field that brought in Kari Sparling for the run. 

Hayley Apple entered the game as a pinch hitter and she delivered a clutch at bat when she knocked in an RBI single to center field that brought in Meredith Shepherd for the game-tying run. 

The Oilers walked off with the dramatic victory when in the bottom of the eighth inning Megan Turner hit an RBI single that brought in Brooke Scherger for the game-winning run.

In the second game, Nicole Motuza started the game on the mound and earned the victory for the Oilers.  Bonnie Zappitelli pitched the final 2.2 innings of the game and only gave up one hit in the process.    

The Oilers had a 3-0 lead heading into the fifth inning and then went on a scoring spree in the fifth inning collecting seven runs to give them a 10-0 lead.  The scoring spree led to an early finish and victory for the Oilers due to the 10 run rule. 

Brooke Scherger helped lead the offense for the Oilers finishing the game with an inside the park home run, two singles and three runs batted in.  Meredith Shepherd finished the game with one double, one single and two runs batted in while Emily Stewart added one double, two singles and three runs batted in. 

Kelsey Borders added one double and two singles in the contest while Kelley Cejer finished the game with one run scored and an RBI single. 

The Oilers return to the field in Clermont, Florida on Wednesday, March 5 for a doubleheader as they face the University of Sciences and Wheeling Jesuit.
