Oilers Fall to Kutztown, Beat Mary

The University of Findlay softball team split a pair of games on March 7 in Clermont, Fla., losing 2-1 to Kutztown before defeating Mary by a score of 7-2. The split gives the Oilers an 8-5 record on the season.

In the loss to Kutztown, senior Megan Turner drove in the Oilers lone run with a triple in the third inning.

Junior Bonnie Zappitelli suffered the loss on the mound after allowing two runs, only one earned on three hits in four innings of work.

In the win over Mary, sophomore Jenna Inman picked up the victory by allowing only one run on five hits in 4.1 innings of action. Freshman Chelsea McManaway came in on relief and allowed one run on hit in 2.2 innings of work as well. She also recorded four strikeouts.

Sophomore Lauren Trumpler went 2-for-2 with a RBI while sophomore Abby Funk drove in three runs on the day, finishing 1-for-4 at the dish with a double.

Junior Brooke Scherger went 1-for-2 with two runs scored as well.

The Oilers will close their trip to Florida tomorrow when they face Pitt-Johnstown and Southern Indiana.
