Oilers Trounce Tiffin In Doubleheader Sweep

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay softball team swept a doubleheader against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Tiffin University, which took place on Wednesday, April 15.  The Oilers won the first game 4-0 and then shutout the Dragons in the second game 7-1.  The twin bill sweep gives the Oilers a 19-15 record on the season which includes a 7-6 record in GLIAC play. 

In the first game, Jenna Inman picked up the victory on the mound for the Oilers.  She gave up two earned runs and struck out one batter in 5.1 innings.  Chelsea McManaway took over on the mound for the final 1.2 innings and she gave up no hits and struck out four batters to earn the save. 

The Oilers were up 2-1 through four innings and then they extended their lead by two runs in the bottom of the fifth as they capitalized on their scoring opportunities to give them the 4-2 victory. 

Megan Turner helped lead the offense for the Oilers as she finished the game with a double, a single and two runs batted in.  Lauren Trumpler added a two RBI single in the contest. 

Katie Dunphy finished the game with a single, a double and one run scored while Kelsey Borders added a single and one run scored. 

In the second game, Chelsea McManaway claimed the victory on the mound for the Oilers. She gave up four hits and struck out four batters in seven innings.

The Oilers offense was rolling through the first three innings as they took a 5-0 lead and they never looked back as they cruised to a 7-1 victory. 

Katie Dunphy helped pace the offense for the Oilers as she finished the game with a single, a triple, two runs scored and two runs batted in.  Abby Funk also helped lead the offense for the Oilers adding two singles, two runs scored and two runs batted in. 

Lauren Trumpler finished the game with an RBI double while Kelsey Borders had a good game at the dish finishing with two singles and one run batted in.  Hayley Apple added an RBI double while Megan Turner contributed a single and two runs scored. 

The Oilers return to action on Saturday, April 18 when they host GLIAC rival Malone University in a doubleheader at Anderson Field.  The first game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
