Oilers Defeat Bulldogs 6-2

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay softball team defeated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Ferris State University 5-0, which took place at Anderson Field on Sunday, April 26.  With the win the Oilers concluded the season with an overall record of 26-20 and a 14-11 record in GLIAC play. 

Chelsea McManaway picked up the victory on the mound for the Oilers and she finished the season with fifteen wins on the mound.  In today's game, she gave up two earned runs and struck out fourteen batters in seven innings of work. 

The Oilers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Morgan Arnold belted a two RBI double and Hayley Apple blasted an RBI single.  The Oilers drove in two more runs as they cruised to a 6-2 victory. 

Emily Stewart had a big game at the plate for the Oilers as she finished with three singles, one run scored and one run batted in. 

Lauren Trumpler finished with a single and one run scored while Jenna Huff hit 1-for-2 with a run scored.  Abby Funk went 1-for-2 with a run scored while Kelsey Borders added a single and a run scored. 

The Oilers made it to the GLIAC tournament, which will take place in Findlay with the first round matchups starting on Friday, May 1.
