Oilers Earn 7th-Seed in GLIAC Tournament

2015 GLIAC Softball Tournament

The University of Findlay softball team has earned the seven-seed in the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament and will play second-seeded Ashland University in the first round on May 1 at 12 p.m.

The tournament is scheduled to take place on May 1-3 at the Marathon Diamonds in Findlay.

The Oilers enter the tournament with a 26-21 record. Their offense has been led by a pair of sophomores in shortstop Katie Dunphy and first baseman Lauren Trumpler.

Dunphy is leading the team with a .360 batting average and also has a team-high 13 doubles. She has scored 23 runs, hit three home runs and driven in 23 runs. Trumpler meanwhile is hitting .350 with a team-high five home runs and 32 runs batted in.

Freshman Chelsea McManaway headlines the pitching staff and ranks third in the GLIAC with a 15-6 record. She also ranks third with 171 strikeouts in 139 innings of work and holds a 2.42 earned run average on the year.
