Lowe Hired as Oilers New Softball Coach

Danielle Lowe has been tabbed by Brandi Laurita, director of athletics at The University of Findlay, to lead the Oilers softball program. Lowe will take over for the recently retired Ron Ammons, who is the all-time leader in wins at Findlay with 233.

"It is exciting to have an outstanding UF alumna join our team and lead our softball program," said Laurita. "Dani is a great coach and her knowledge and experiences will help our young ladies grow and develop both on the field and off of the field."

Lowe, who was the Oilers starting second baseman from 2004-06, has been the head coach at Urbana University since 2010. She totaled 96 wins in her five seasons at the helm of the Blue Knights program.

"I am tremendously excited about the opportunity to be a part of such a great athletic department," said Lowe. "It has been a dream of mine to return to my alma mater and I look forward to leading the softball program to continued success."

Lowe guided the Blue Knights to some of their finest seasons ever while leading the program. Her 2012 campaign saw the team capture the NCAA Division II Ohio Independents' Championship and her 2014 squad posted a school record 28 wins.

Before her run at Urbana, Lowe served as an assistant coach at UF from 2006-10 under Ammons.

As a player at Findlay, Lowe earned all-academic honors from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and served as team captain during her final season. She appeared in 122 career games, making 118 starts. She also registered a .253 batting average with 31 runs scored and 37 runs batted in.

The Jackson, Mich. native originally started her collegiate playing career at NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University. She also served as the head coach of the Wizards Softball Organization out of Toledo, Ohio in 2008.

Lowe earned a bachelor's degree in integrated mathematics AYA education from Findlay in 2006. She also completed her master's degree in education from UF in 2008.
