McManaway Named National Pitcher of the Week

Findlay, OH – Following a stellar week on the mound, sophomore Chelsea McManaway was tabbed the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday, March 30.

McManaway dominated last week by allowing only 1 hit in 16.2 innings of work. She struck out 37 batters to go along with three victories and a save. She also threw a no-hitter in the Oilers 8-0 win against Northwood on March 25. It was the second no-hitter of her young career.

The hurler began the week by recording a save in the Oilers 8-6 win at Lourdes on March 22. McManaway struck out the side to preserve the win for Findlay. She then came back and struck out 12 batters in the Oilers 5-1 win over Lourdes in their second game of the day to earn the win in 4.2 innings of action.

McManaway came back to start game two against Northwood on March 25 at Anderson Field and registered a no-hitter with eight strikeouts in the Oilers 8-0 win. She then closed the week by picking up another victory in a 1-hit, 6-1 win over Lake Superior State on March 26. McManaway was dominate from the beginning, striking out a season-high 14 batters in the win.

The Wellston, Ohio native is 11-2 on the season with a 0.56 earned run average. She has struck out 113 batters in 75.2 innings of work and has thrown five complete games.

McManaway is the first pitcher in Oilers history to earn this award.
