Findlay Drops Two Against #21 Saginaw
The University of Findlay softball team hosted #21 Saginaw Valley State University for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader on Sunday, April 23. The Oilers fell in the first game in ten innings and were defeated in the second game to fall to 19-22 on the season and 9-11 in GLIAC play.

Saginaw scored three runs in the top of the seventh innings to force extra innings and prevailed for a 5-4 win over Findlay.
The Oilers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first on a double by junior Meredith Shepherd to score junior Madison Arnold, who singled earlier in the inning for a 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals tied the game at 1-all in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly. Findlay regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs on three hits.
Sophomores Erika Farst and Carleigh Cousino connected on back-to-back singles and Arnold walked to load the bases. Shepherd cleared the bases with a single to right field for a 4-1 Oiler lead.
Saginaw forced extras with three runs on three hits in the seventh inning, scoring two of their runs with two outs. They added the game winning run in the tenth inning on a RBI single by Becky Corbett.
The Oilers finished the game with seven hits and two errors, while the Cardinals recorded 15 hits and one miscue. Shepherd and Arnold both had two hits for Findlay.
Senior Jenna Inman started on the mound for Findlay. She pitched seven innings giving up four runs on ten hits with one walk while striking out one. Sophomore Hailey Bryan (11-11) picked up the loss. She pitched three innings giving up one run, unearned, on five hits with one walk while striking out one.

The Oilers managed just five hits in the second game and committed two errors, while Saginaw Valley connected on eight hits with no errors.
The lone run for the Oilers came on the first pitch of the game as Arnold sent the ball over the fence in centerfield for her tenth home run this season.
Saginaw tied the game in the bottom of the first with a run of their own. They took the lead in the second inning with another run and had two more runs cross the plate in the third for a 4-1 lead. The Cardinals stretched the lead to 6-1 in the fifth, which would be the final score.
Junior Morgan James (2-4) took the loss in the circle. She pitched two innings giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits. Inman pitched the remaining of the game and gave up four runs, two earned, on five hits.
Arnold, Shepherd, freshman Madison Mollette, senior Lauren Trumpler and junior Amanda Delmonte accounted for the Findlay hits.
The Oilers return to the playing field on Friday, April 28 when they will travel to Tiffin University for their last regular season games of the year. The first game of the GLIAC doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m.
