Oilers Drop 2 in Illinois

The University of Findlay softball team dropped a pair of games on Feb. 24 in Rosemont, Ill., losing 7-6 to Lewis in eight innings and 5-4 to Wisconsin-Parkside in nine frames. The losses give the Oilers a 2-4 record on the season.

In the Lewis contest, Findlay scored three runs in the top of the seventh to go up 3-1 before Lewis came back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. Findlay would then tack on three more runs in the top of the eighth, but Lewis once again answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the win.

Hailey Bryan started and pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. Megan Fisher was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs in 1.2 innings of work.

Destinie Keeton led the offense by going 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

In the loss to Parkside, Meredith Shepherd and Keeton had a pair of singles to lead the way. More results will be coming as soon as they are received.
