Oilers Drop on Final Day in Rosemont

Rosemont, Ill. – The University of Findlay softball team was defeated by the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars on Sunday, February 25. The 3-0 loss moves the Oilers to 2-5 on the year, all during non-conference play.

The Prairie Stars struck early, scoring in the first and second innings on a single up the middle and a sacrifice fly. They would score their third and final run in the bottom of the fourth by way of a solo homerun.

The Oilers were able to produce little offense during the game, recording zero hits, zero walks, and reaching base on error twice.

Junior Hailey Bryan received her first loss of the year on the mound, going for two innings, giving up two runs (one earned) and recording one strikeout.

Also pitching for the Oilers was freshman Caragyn Yanek, who went for three innings and allowed one earned run while recording three strikeouts. Devyn Zuro finished the game pitching the last inning, giving up zero runs and only one walk.

The Oilers will head to Clermont, Florida on Sunday, March 4 to begin their week of play down south. The first day will consist of a double-header with the first game against the Bentley Falcons and the second versus the Upper Iowa Peacocks.
