Oilers Move to 6-6 After Pair of Wins in Florida

Kissimmee, Fla. – The University of Findlay softball team traveled to Florida to compete against Ashland University and Gannon on March 5. The Oilers defeated the Eagles in their first game 8-3, and finished out the day with a 2-0 win over the Golden Knights in game two. The pair of wins improved Findlay's record to 6-6 on the season.

Sophomore Dylan Wiley and junior Rebecca Harvey both went 2 for 3 in game one against the Eagles. Wiley and Harvey recorded two runs each, and Harvey batted in one runner.

Sophomore Devyn Zuro went 2 for 3 behind the plate and recorded one RBI, while senior Amanda Delmonte went 1 for 2 and had two RBIs.

Senior Salwa Al-Hajabed, junior Emily Barr, freshman Madelyn Turner, and freshman Gloria Corona each recorded one run for the Oilers. Turner also recorded three RBIs.

Senior Hailey Bryan pitched all seven innings for Findlay, recording two strikeouts, and only allowing three runs and six hits.

In the second game of the day, Harvey went 1 for 2 behind the plate and recorded one RBI, while Delmonte, Zuro, and sophomore Sadie Gearhart, each had one hit for their three at bats

Junior Allison Brunner and junior Rachel Vander Roest each scored one run for Findlay.

Sophomore Megan Fisher pitched all seven innings, recorded five strikeouts, had zero errors and only allowed five hits and zero runs.

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow in Osceola, Fla. where they will face St. Cloud St. and Wheeling Jesuit in a double header starting a 9:00am.
