Oilers' Sweep Keeps Season Alive

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay softball team swept Hillsdale College in their double header on April 28. Findlay's record is now 23-21 on the season and 13-11 in the conference.

Game 1 | W 5-4 (Box Score)

Sophomore Devyn Zuro, freshman Lyndsey Seamon, freshman Caroline Turner and sophomore Sadie Gearhart all went 2 for 3 behind the plate in game one against the Chargers. Turner batted in three runners, while Seamon batted in one. Turner and Gearhart each scored one run.

Junior Emily Barr, junior Rachel Vander Roest, and freshman Gloria Corona scored one run each.

Senior Hailey Bryan started out on the mound for the Oilers, pitching 5.2 innings, recording one strikeout, and allowing nine hits and three runs.

Sophomore Caragyn Yanek pitched the final 1.1 innings and recorded one strikeout, allowing three hits and one run.

Game 2 | W 6-1 (Box Score)

Junior Allison Brunner went 3 for 3 behind the plate against Hillsdale in game two.

Sophomore Dylan Wiley and Seamon each went 2 for 4, and Wiley scored two runs.

Gearhart, Corona, Barr, and Vander Roest each scored one run for the Oilers.

Sophomore Megan Fisher pitched all seven innings in the win, recording six strikeouts, and only allowing seven hits and one run.

The Oilers have made the conference tournament for the seventh consecutive season, and will be back in action for the first round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio on May 2. Seeded seventh, the Oilers will take on the second-seeded Trevecca Nazarene Trojens in the first round.
