Oiler Women Crush Malone And Hillsdale For Double Dual Victory

The University of Findlay women's swimming and diving team took the Charge out of Hillsdale (139-84) and halted the Pioneers of Malone (164-66), cruising to a double dual victory, while the UF men lost a nail biter to Malone by the score of 106-98. 

The Oilers led off the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay against the Chargers, as the 'A' relay of junior Kaley Holmstrom, freshman Rachel Farmer, sophomore Emily Annen, and senior Molly Cade cruised to victory followed closely by the 'B' relay of freshman Taylor Seyfried, junior Kari Lemanski and sophomores Hannah Schreiber and Marissa McDonald.  The same relays placed 1st and 3rd as Malone cruised to a second place finish. 

Senior Annie Currin finished second in the 1000 freestyle (11:14.39) against both Malone and Hillsdale.

Freshman Emma Barnes finished with a big meet, winning both the 200 (1:56.96) and 500 freestyle (5:16.11), sweeping honors in those events. 

Jessica Ward won the 100 backstroke (:57.86) and 50 freestyle (:24.68) against Malone, while finishing runner-up to All-American Charger Rachael Kurtz in the 50 freestyle.  Freshman Michelle Stefaniak added a second place (:26.22) finish against the Pioneers and bronze against the Chargers in the 50.

Holmstrom also added a pair of victories, claiming gold in the 200 individual medley (2:14.23) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.54) against both the Chargers and Pioneers, adding to her victory as a part of the winning 200 medley relay. 

Senior Ashleigh Weddington claimed a double victory of her own in the 1-meter diving (201.01) and on the 3-meter board (205.21). 

Annen (1:00.98) and Schreiber (1:02.43) added to the scoring, claiming a 1-2 punch against the Chargers and second and third place finish with Malone in the 100 butterfly.

Cade finished off the top scoring in the 100 yard freestyle (:54.55), claiming victory over Malone, while adding a second place finish against Hillsdale.  

The Oiler ladies concluded an outstanding night with a final victory in the 200 free relay as the 'A' relay took home a victory behind the efforts of Cade, Ward, Annen and Barnes (1:42.69).

On to the men's draw, the Oilers came up just short leading off the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay behind the efforts of freshmen Ross Stansbery, Chaz Manocchio and Graham Copus, and sophomore Aaron Mitchell (1:41.75). 

Freshman Janko Radmanovic claimed three major victories on the evening, starting with his impressive 1:43.47 in the 200 freestyle.  He also added to his victory count, finishing with a 51.18 in the 100 butterfly, just shades off the school record.  Radmanovic added to his haul with a gold medal in the 500-yard freestyle, winning by over 20 seconds en route to a 4:47.33. 

Sophomore Todo Djurovic added some punch for the Oilers, claiming 3 victories on the evening.  His victory in the 200 individual medley was clocked in at 1:57.57.  He then claimed a second gold in the 100 breaststroke (:59.38) before adding to his haul on the winning 200 freestyle relay team. 

Sophomore Nick Kaftan (:49.55) and Craig (:49.87) claimed second and third place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, narrowly missing out on a victory.

Stansbery claimed silver in the 100-yard backstroke, coming in with a time of 56.08. 

The Oiler men concluded the close meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the 'A' team of Kaftan, Craig, sophomore Clay Fogle, and Djurovic won in a time of 1:29.46.

The Oilers hit the pool again tomorrow in Tiffin, Ohio as they take on conference foe Tiffin University at 1:00 p.m.
