Oilers Come Up Big Against Ohio Wesleyan

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams were double winners at their dual meet against Ohio Wesleyan University, which took place at Sink Natatorium on Saturday, November 8.  The women won 148-72 while the men won 110-103. 

On the women's side, the Oilers kicked off the meet with a first place victory in the 400 yard medley relay, which was led by Isidora Yanez, Kate Fisher, Molly Cade and Annie Currin finishing with a time of 4:15.24. 

Emma Barnes claimed a first place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 56.33 while Jessica Ward claimed a first place victory in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.62. 

Currin claimed a first place victory in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.83 while Fisher took first place in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:56.39. 

Cade claimed a first place victory in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.81. 

Michelle Stefaniak won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.26 while Marissa McDonald took second place with a time of 26.69. 

Ashleigh Weddington had a big day on the boards taking first place on the one meter with a score of 250.50 and she took first place on the three meter board with a score of 271.81.  Her three meter score set a new school record and pre-qualified her for nationals. 

To cap off the meet for the women the relay team of Yanez, Fisher, Currin and Cade took first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:53.59. 

On the men's side, the relay team of Ross Stansbery, Graham Copus, Aaron Mitchell and Cody Craig claimed a first place victory in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:44.82. 

Nick Kaftan claimed a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.69 and took second place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.68. 

Janko Radmanovic claimed a first place victory in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.42 and took first place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 51.54. 

Todo Djurovic took first place in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:19.17. 

To cap off the meet for the men the relay team of Craig, Clay Fogle, Kaftan and Djurovic claimed a first place victory in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:14.14. 

The Oilers return to the pool on December 4 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Calvin Winter Invitational.
