Swimming Opens Season in Marquette

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off their season on Oct. 2 in Marquette, Mich. against Northern Michigan University and Tiffin University. The women's team came away with six first place finishes while the men secured two.

On the women's side, Amanda Stiegal captured first place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (54.95) and 200-yard freestyle (1:59.26).

Emma Barnes had a hand in two wins as she claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:13.85) and teamed with Michelle Stefaniak, Jenna Dasher and Meri Cizmar to win the gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.32).

Jessica Ward won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.62 and Kaley Holmstrom was the victor in the 100-yard IM at 1:03.58.

Ward also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (59.72), 50-yard butterfly (27.39) and teamed with Holmstrom, Cizmar and Stiegal to take the silver in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.25).

Barnes was second in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:57.85), Stiegal was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (25.28) and Rachel Farmer finished second in the 100-yard IM (1:06.76).

On the men's side, Janko Radmanovic won two events to lead the way. He was the best in the 100-yard butterfly (51.35) and 50-yard butterfly (22.82). His time in the 50-yard butterfly set a new pool record.

Radmanovic was also second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.70) and teamed with Diego Santos and Todo Djurovic and Ben Mayer to take the silver in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.09).

Djurovic took second in the 100-yard IM at 55.26, Kaleb Brown was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.35) and Graham Rossi was the runner-up in the 1-meter dive at 182.55.

Cody Craig was second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.47 and teamed with Brown, Alex Matthews and Nick Kaftan to finish as the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:28.90.
