Another Solid Day for the Oilers at NMU
The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams completed day two at Northern Michigan on Oct. 3 against the host Wildcats and Tiffin Dragons.
On the women's side, Emma Barnes had a hand in two wins to lead the way. She teamed with Jessica Ward, Kaley Holmstrom and Amanda Stiegal to capture gold in the 400-yard medley relay (4:02.95) and also won the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.36). Barnes also teamed with Michelle Stefaniak, Jenna Dasher and Ward to claim runner-up honors in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:47.34.
Stiegal added second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.67) and 100-yard freestyle (55.95) while Holmstrom was second in the 200-yard breaststroke after crossing the line in 2:34.74.
Meri Cizmar was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.14) and 200-yard IM (2:17.89) as well.
On the men's side, Janko Radmanovic continued his good start with wins in the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.69) and 100-yard freestyle (47.95). His time in the 200 fly was good enough to establish a new pool record.
The team of Diego Santos, Radmanovic, Conner Whitaker and Todo Djurovic was second in the 400-yard medley relay at 3:34.83 and the Oilers team of Whitaker, Ben Mayer, Cody Craig and Nick Kaftan took runner-up honors in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:17.84.
Ben Rath added a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:00.04.
The Oilers will be back in town on Oct. 16 to host Ashland University at 6 p.m. in Sink Natatorium.
