Oilers Compete in Tri-meet at Hillsdale

Results

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Saturday, November 14 in Hillsdale, Michigan for a tri-meet with Lewis-Illinois University and host, Hillsdale College. By the end of the competition, the Oilers found themselves ahead in many of the meet's events.

Women

Senior Jessica Ward swam to a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with her time of 2:12. Also earning first was junior Meri Cizmar who competed in the 200 yard backstroke. She won with a time of 2:08.06.

In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Findlay's Ward, alongside freshmen Amanda Stiegal, Jenna Dasher and Brittany Borzych took first place over their opponents with a time of 1:41.05.

Stiegal finished in a close second in the 50 yard freestyle with her time of 25.16. Coming in third in that race was freshman Jenna Dasher swimming a time of 25.21. Steigal also took part in the 100 yard freestyle where she took second place with a 54.29.

Sophomore Emma Barnes was able earn a win in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.25. In the 400 yard medley relay Barnes, Ward, Dasher, and senior Kaley Holstorm lapped a winning time of 4:02.84. 

Diving

On the one meter board, a trio of Findlay freshman finished in first, second, and third, as Madison Tanis, Hannah May, and Brittany Borzych finished with a 219.50, 201.00, and 166.15, respectively.

Tanis and May also participated in the three meter board and took first and second with scores of 222.80 and 190.10, respectively.

Men

Sophomore Janko Radmanovic earned a two first place finishes for Findlay. The first win was in the 200 yard freestyle with Radmanovic swimming a time of 1:43.40. He also swam a winning time of 1:53.68 in the 200 yard butterfly. 

Findlay earned second place in the 400 yard medley with senior Diego Santos, junior Todo Djurovic,  Radmanovic, and junior Nick Kaftan swimming a time of 3:34.26, collectively.

Djurovic earned second place in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.32. Santos placed right behind Djurovic in the event with a 2:00.03 finishing time. Djurovic also picked up a first place finish with a 2:07.90 in the 200 yard breaststroke. Santos swam a 1:58.76 to earn a second place finish in that same race.

Sophomore Ben Rath placed second for the Oilers in the men's 1000 yard freestyle swimming a time of 10:10.59. Rath also placed second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:53.72.

In the 100 yard freestyle junior Cody Craig placed earned a second place finish with his time of 49.38. Craig, along with junior Kaleb Brown, freshman Ben Mayer, and freshman Connor Whitaker placed second in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.62.

The Oilers are back in the pool in two and a half weeks when they will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Calvin Winter Invitational. That meet will take place over three days, beginning with Thursday, Dec. 3 and running through that Saturday, Dec. 5.
