Relays Break Records at the Calvin Winter Invitational

The men and women's swimming and diving team competed Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Calvin Winter Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan.   After completing four events of the meet the women are currently ranked eighth, while the men have earned a fifth place standing in this three day event.

Women

The women's 800 yard freestyle relay of sophomore Emma Barnes, senior Jessica Ward, and freshmen Amanda Stiegal and Jenna Dasher, set a school record and earned a second place finish with a time of 7:40.92. This time also gives the women a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) "B" standard qualifying time.    

Men

Junior Ben Rath was able to collect a sixth place finish in the men's 1650 yard freestyle swim.  His NCAA "B" standard qualifying time of 16:08.00 also earned him a place in the school record book.

The men's 800 yard freestyle relay team of Rath, sophomore Janko Radmanovic, and juniors Todo Djurovic and Nick Kaftan broke a school record with their time of 6:51.74.  This time earned them a third place finish in the event.

The men and women continue their competition in the Calvin Winter Invitational Friday, Dec. 4 at 10:00 am.
