Oilers take 5th Place in Calvin Winter Invite

The University of Findlay's men and women's swimming and diving team competed in the final day of competition in the Calvin Winter Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Both men and women ranked fifth overall in the team rankings after a day filled with school record-breaking performances.

Women

Findlay's 200 yard medley relay team of senior Jessica Ward, senior Kaley Holstrom, freshmen Jenna Dasher and Amanda Stiegal took sixth place with a time of 1:48.28.

Seniors Holstrom and Ward continued their strong performance into their individual events. Holmstrom swam a sixth place finish in the women's 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.67. Ward swam a time of 58.51 in the women's 100 yard butterfly. This time earned Ward a seventh place finish.

In the women's 500 yard freestyle, sophomore Emma Barnes earned ninth place with a time of 5:05.86. Barnes also earned an eighth place finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.73.

Junior Meri Cizmar took second place and earned an NCAA "B" standard time in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.54. Cizmar also placed tenth in the 200 yard individual medley with a final swim time of 2:10.00.

Stiegal acquired an eighth place for the Oilers finish in the 100 yard freestyle with her time of 54.02.

Diving

Madison Tanis placed seventh in three meter diving with an overall score of 373.90.

Men

Janko Radmanovic earned a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle after racing to a school record breaking time of 4:34.34. Radmanovic also earned a NCAA "B" standard qualifying time in the event.

Junior Todo Djurovic continued the team's school record-breaking performance with a time of 2:02.87 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Djurovic earned fourth place in the event and narrowly missed a "B" standard.

Diego Santos was also fourth in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:52.47.

The men and women's swimming and diving team will be back in the pool on Friday, Jan. 15 against Wayne State in Findlay, Ohio.
