Women

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed against Grand Valley State Saturday Jan. 23 in Allendale, MI.  The women's team lost to GVSU 208-81 while the men faced a similar loss to the Lakers 210-80. Findlay competed against tough competition but was able to clench important points during the meet.

The 200 yard medley relay team of seniors Jessica Ward and Kaley Holstrom, freshmen Jenna Dasher and Amanda Stiegal  placed third in the event with a final time of 1:51.25.

The Oilers also took third place with a 1:48.45 in the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of Holmstrom, freshman Brittany Borzych, junior Hannah Schrieber, and freshman Colleen Hoke

Holstrom swam a first place time of 2:14.28 in the 200 yard butterfly. The senior swimmer also placed third in the 200 yard breaststroke swimming a final of 2:32.64.

Stiegal competed in the 50 yard freestyle with a third place finish and final time of 25.37. In the 100 yard butterfly Stiegal swam 1:04.37 for a second place ranking. Sophomore teammate Rachel Farmer followed in the event with a third place time of 1:06.25.  

In the 200 yard freestyle, sophomore Emma Barnes swam a 1:57.73 which earned her a third place finish.

Junior Meri Cizmar also placed third for Findlay in the 200 yard backstroke. Cizmar swam a final time of 2:11.34.

Findlay was awarded second and third place in the 200 yard individual medley. Ward took second place with a time of 2:18.20 while sophomore teammate Alyssa Sauter followed in third place. Sauter swam a 2:33.76 to earn the third place position. 

Senior Kacie Miller received third place in the 500 yard freestyle swim with a final time of 6:13.27.

Women's diving

Freshman Madison Tanis competed in the women's 1-meter and 3-meter diving events for Findlay.  Tanis placed third in the 1-meter with a final score of 220.65. Tanis also earned a third place in the 3-meter dive with a 217.79 final score.

Men

The Oilers took second and third place in the 200 yard freestyle relay.  Second place was earned with a time of 1:28.95 by sophomore Janko Radmanovic, freshman Connor Whitaker, juniors Kaleb Brown and Cody Craig. In third place the team of junior Clay Fogle, freshmen Luke Kleman and Alex Matthews, and sophomore Ross Stansbury had a final time of 1:33.51.

Randmanovic earned a first place in the men's 200 yard butterfly with a NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 1:51.26. The outstanding sophomore also won the 100 yard butterfly with a dominating time of 50.03.

Junior Jonathan Marble placed third in the 1000 yard freestyle swimming a final time of 11:04.97. Freshman Trae Gulgin placed third with a final of 1:52.66 in the 200 yard freestyle.

Brown also earned a third place time of 22.91 in the 50 yard freestyle.

Stansbury reached second place in the 500 yard freestyle swimming a final time of 5:14.15

Sophomore Ben Rath took third place with a 2:08.93 in the 200 yard individual medley.

The University of Findlay's swimming and diving teams will compete next on Friday, Jan. 29 at the Wayne State Invitational in Detroit, MI.
