Radmanovic Wins GLIAC Championship in Men's 200 Fly

Results

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the third day of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship competition in Mott, Michigan on Friday, Feb. 12. The women currently have 267 points, while the men have earned 227 points toward the rankings. The Oilers remain ranked in fifth place overall among the competition however, both men and women continue to exhibit outstanding performances in the pool.

Women

The 800 freestyle relay team of sophomores Rachel Farmer and Taylor Seyfried, junior Hannah Schrieber, and freshman  Colleen Hoke swam a 8:13.03 for a seventh place finish in the finals of the event.

Senior Jessica Ward had a second place time of 55.51 in the 100 yard backstroke finals.  This time also qualifies Ward for a NCAA 'B' standard time.

Senior Kaley Holstrom placed sixth with a NCAA 'B' standard time of 1:04.76 in the 100 yard breaststroke finals. This NCAA 'B' qualification time is one of several earned by Holstrom over the course of GLIAC championship competition.

Sophomore Emma Barnes also placed for Findlay, finishing ninth in the 500 yard freestyle finals with a NCAA 'B' standard time of 5:05.18.

Diving

Freshman Madison Tanis placed eleventh overall in 1 meter diving with a score of 350.45.

Men

Sophomore standout Janko Radmanovic captured a GLIAC Championship for the Oilers by winning the title in the 200 yard butterfly  with a NCAA 'B' standard time of 1:47.65. The individual title marked the seventh time a men's swimmer has won a GLIAC title for Findlay. It was also the first time a men's swimmer at UF has won a conference title since Ian Naumann captured gold in the 100 yard butterfly during the 2008 meet.

The 800 freestyle relay team of sophomore Ben Rath, junior Nick Kaftan, and freshmen Trae Gulgin and Alex Matthews swam a 7:02.59 time for a seventh place finish in the event.  

Rath continued his competition with a tenth place finish in the 500 yard freestyle finals with a time of 4:39.32.

Junior Todo Djurovic also placed tenth in the 100 yard breaststroke finals with a time of 56.17.

Sophomore Ross Stansbery placed ninth in the 100 yard backstroke finals reaching 51.46 for his time.

The final day of GLIAC Championship competition for the Oilers begins at 10am on Saturday, Feb. 13 in Mott. Michigan.
