Oilers Set Records in Kenyon Last Chance Invitational

Results

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Kenyon Last Chance Invitational in Gambier, OH. The Oilers had another successful performance in the meet with many athletes reaching National Collegiate Athletic Association qualifying standards.   

Women

The 200 yard medley relay team of senior Jessica Ward, senior Kaley Holstrom, junior Meri Cizmar, and freshman Amanda Stiegal won the event with a final time of 1:43.71. This time earns the team a NCAA 'B' standard qualifying time. The team now holds the school record for Findlay in the event.  

Stiegal competed in the 100 yard freestyle and earned second place with a 52.40 time.

Sophomore Emma Barnes won the 200 yard backstroke with 2:05.21. Barnes also swam a time of 59.36 to place second in the 100 yard backstroke.

Holstrom continued her competition with a first place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke.  Holstrom reached a time of 2:19.18 time. This time gives Holmstrom another NCAA 'B' standard qualifying time to add to her senior career.

Ward competed in the 50 yard freestyle and earned third place in the event.  Ward finished the event with a time of 24.56.

Cizmar placed fourth in the 100 yard butterfly with a 58.53 time.

Men

Sophomore Janko Radmanovic swam a 49.26 in the 100 yard butterfly to earn first place in the event.  This time also gives Radmanovic a NCAA 'B' standard qualification. Radmanovic placed third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 51.86. The sophomore standout also competed in the 200 yard butterfly and reached a time of 1:59.84 and earned sixth place.  

Sophomore Ben Rath placed third for the Oilers in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:37.81.

The men and women's swimming and diving teams will compete next in the NCAA Division II National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. The championship competition will begin on Tuesday, March 8 at 10:30am.
