Findlay Takes on Day 2 of Calvin Invite

Grand Rapids, MI – The University of Findlay swimming and diving team competed on the second day of competition at the Calvin Invitational on Dec. 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Men

Janko Radmanovic earned himself a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly as he made the finals with a swim of 1:50.42, and then bested that time with a 1:47.17 in the finals. Tucker Stocker also made the finals in the event and finished eighth with a time of 1:55.31.

Trae Gulgin had a solid day in the 100 yard backstroke as he swam a 52.38 in the prelims to reach the B-Finals. He then swam a time of 51.26 to earn first place in the B-Final and ninth place overall.

Women

Julia Snell earned a third place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke and earned a 'B Standard' as a provisional qualifier for the NCAA National Championship with a time of 1:04.91. Hanna Cederholm also competed in the event and took sixth in the finals with her time of 1:07.24.

Meri Cizmar met a 'B Standard' in the 100 yard backstroke swimming to a time of 55.72 which was good enough to earn her second place in the finals of the event.

Findlay earned a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle as Amanda Stiegal out-touched the field with a time of 24.41. In that same race, Lauren Blanchard, who swam a 24.64 in the prelims to earn a spot in the B-Final, took first in that B-Final with a 24.21.

In the 200 yard butterfly, Katy Kouvaris swam more than three seconds faster in the finals than in her prelim race as she raced to a time of 2:10.08, good enough for fifth place.

Findlay earned a fourth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay as Amanda Stiegal, Julia Snell, Olivia Wile, and Lauren Blanchard raced to a time of 1:37.09, just two seconds off the provisional qualifying time for the event.. Brittany Menzer, Brittany Borzych, Hanna Cederholm, and Kathryn Samuelson also competed in the event and took tenth place with their time of 1:40:17.

Day 3 of the event will begin tomorrow at 10:00 am.
