Oilers Get Out the Brooms Against Ashland

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams were victorious in a home dual meet against the Ashland University Eagles on Friday, November 10.

This was the first time in school history that the Oilers have swept Ashland, having the men's team win 149-87 and the women winning 149-87. 

The women had 9 first place finishes on the night, led by diver Hannah May and swimmer Hanna Cederholm.

May won both the one and three meter diving competitions with scores of 212.47 and 208.53 respectively.

Cederholm contributed to three first place finishes, which included winning her individual event in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.20.

Cederholm teamed up with Sarah Miles, Katy Kouvaris, and Jenna Dasher to win the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.02 and then joined Amanda Stiegal, Lauren Blanchard, and Julia Snell to win the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.20.

Stiegal and Kouvaris each chipped in an individual victory of their own, with Stiegal winning the 50 yard free with a time of 24.67 and Kouvaris taking the 100 yard butterly with a time of 1:00.28.

Other first place finishes were Ashton Klopp with a 100 yard freestyle time of 56.13 and Emma Barnes winning the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.74.

The men collected 11 first place finishes on the night, with Janko Radmanovic and a slew of other Oilers leading the way.

Radmanovic won the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle races with times of 9:48.83 and 4:42.60. Radmanovic then joined Trent Williams, Conner Whitaker, and Parker Bull to win the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.99.

Shevlin took both diving events with a score of 244.07 in the three meter and 226.40 in the one meter competition.

Williams took the 50 yard freestyle with a 21.77 time and Whitaker won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 52.96. The two then teams up with Trae Gulgin and Isaac Stretch to win the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.61.

Other individual wins for the men were Isaac Stretch in the 100 yard breastroke with a time of 58.34, Nathan Bourne a 48.75 100 yard free time, and Ben Rath in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:46.57

The Oilers will host Lewis University and Hillsdale College tomorrow, November 11, in a competition that begins 1:00 PM.
