Oilers Have Record Breaking Night at Calvin Invitational

Grand Rapids, MI - The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their first night of competition at the Calvin Winter Invitational on Thursday, November 30 at Calvin College. The Oilers broke records in all four events on the night. 

The women placed 4th in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:39.26. The team was made up of Emma Barnes, Amanda Stiegal, Julia Snell, and Ashton Klopp. This breaks the record of 7:40.92 set by the 2015 Oilers team of Barnes, Stiegal, Jessica Ward, and Jenna Dasher.

The women also received a 5th place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle from Sydney Zimdars with a time of 17:43.01. This time breaks the previous school record of 17:47.25 set by Annie Currin in 2014.

The men placed 4th in the 800 yard free relay with a time of 6:49.68 by the team of Janko Radmanovic, Ben Rath, Mark Billeaud, and Trae Gulgin. This set a new record for the Oilers, breaking the mark of 6:51.74 set by the 2015 team of Radmanovic, Rath, Todo Djurovic, and Nick Kaftan.

During the relay, Radmanovic met the B standard in the 200 free with a time of 1:38.83, breaking his own school record set in 2015.

Rath finished 6th in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:02.67, also a B standard time and breaks his own school record set in 2015.

The Oilers will continue their competition in the Calvin Invitational Friday, December 1 at 6:00 PM.
