Oilers Finish Second Day of Calvin Invitational

Grand Rapids, MI – The University of Findlay women's and men's swimming teams completed their second night of competition at the Calvin Winter Invitational on Friday, December 1st at Calvin College. The Oilers had another record breaking night, having 3 more school records fall during competition.

Amanda Stiegal finished third in the 200 yard freestyle finals with a time of 1:53.86, and also broke the school record in the prelims with a B standard qualifying time of 1:52.14. Stiegal also finished fourth in the 50 yard freestyle finals with a B standard qualifying time of 23.94.

Lauren Blanchard finished fifth in the 50 yard freestyle with a B standard qualifying time of 24.01.

Hanna Cederholm finished third in to 100 yard breaststroke finals with a B standard qualifying time of 1:04.14.

Kathryn Samuelson finished third with a B standard qualifying time of 56.33 in the 100 yard backstroke.

The 400 yard medley relay team of Samuelson, Cederholm, Stiegal, and Ashton Klopp finished second with a time of 3:50.73.

The women's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Stiegal, Cederholm, Blanchard, and Julia Snell finished fourth and set a new school record with a time of 1:35.02. Stiegal, Cederholm, and Blanchard all achieved a B standard qualifying time for the 50 freestyle during the race.

The men received another monster night from Janko Radmanovic, as he won the 200 yard butterfly finals and finished second in the 50 yard freestyle. Radmanovic's time of 1:46.52 in the 200 yard fly qualified for B standard and his 20.41 finish in the 50 yard free also qualified for B standard.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Radmanovic, Trent Williams, Conner Whitaker, and Isaac Stretch finished fourth with a time of 1:23.59. This time breaks the school record of 1:24.26 set in 2016.

The men and women are both in fourth place overall after two days of competition.

The Oilers will complete their last night of competition in the Calvin Invitational tomorrow, December 2 with the prelims beginning at 10:00 AM and the finals at 6:00 PM.
