Oilers Smash Records at Kenyon
Gambier, OH – The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational on Saturday, February 24.
Hanna Cederholm continued her strong performance this season by achieving a B-cut standard time of 2:17.71 in the 200 yard breaststroke, which set the new school record for that event.
Also achieving a B-cut time in the race and finishing second was fellow Oiler Julia Snell.
Cederholm also broke the school record in the 100 yard breaststroke, achieving a B-cut standard time of 1:03.03. Both records broken by Cederholm were previously held by Kaley Holmstrom and were set in 2014.
Sydney Zimdars had another big day in the sink, finishing the 1000 yard freestyle with a B-standard time of 10:31.80 and a 17:24.94 B-cut time in the 1650 freestyle. Zimdars broke the school record in the 100 yard freestyle previously set by Annie Currin in 2012 and eclipsed her own school record in the 1650 earlier in the year.
Amanda Stiegal took the 50 yard freestyle race with a 23.67 finish.
The women's 100 yard backstroke winner was Kathryn Samuelson, who finished at 56.02 seconds in the finals
The Oiler women also won the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.66.
The men won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:22.79, which also sets the new school record for Findlay. The winning relay team was made up of Janko Radmanovic, Isaac Stretch, Conner Whitaker, and Trent Williams.
Findlay also won the men's 800 yard freestyle relay event.
The Oilers will continue to prepare for the NCAA Division II National Championship, which is set to begin on Wednesday, March 14 in Greensboro, NC.
