Oilers Earn All-American Honors on Day Two of Nationals
Several Oiler swimmers represented the University of Findlay on day two of the NCAA Division II National Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
Janko Radmanovic swam the men's 100 yard butterfly for the Oilers and placed 9th during prelims with a time of 47.80. This mark just eclipsed his own school record set in 2016 and secured his status as Second Team All-American.
In the finals consolation heat, Radmanovic finished third, placing him at 11th in the nation with his time of 47.92 seconds.
The women's 400 yard medley relay team put up a mark of 3:45.76 second during prelims, securing their spot as Second Team All-American and sending them to the consolation finals.
The team made up of Kathryn Samuelson, Hanna Cederholm, Katy Kouvaris, and Amanda Stiegal set the new school record with their time, breaking the record previously held by the 2016 Oiler relay team.
In the final heat, the Oilers placed fifth with a time of 3:45.96, leaving them at 13th place in the nation.
Emma Barnes raced for the women in the 400 yard individual medley and the 200 yard freestyle. Barnes placed 25th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.23 and claimed 43rd in the 200 free finishing at 1:53.71.
The Oilers had Hanna Cederholm in the pool for the women's 100 yard butterfly, and her prelim time of 57.42 earned her 36th.
Representing in the women's 200 yard freestyle relay was Stiegal, Cederholm, Snell, and Kouvaris. Their preliminary time of 1:36.02 was good enough to place them 25th in the nation.
Day three of the National Championships begin on Friday, March 16 with the prelims starting at 10:00 AM and the finals starting at 6:00 PM.
