Combs, Cederholm Named 2017-18 Athletes of the Year

The University of Findlay athletic department has announced their annual Male and Female Athlete of the Year award winners for the 2017-18 season. Track standout Austin Combs was tabbed the James D. Houdeshell Male Athlete of the Year while swimming star Hanna Cederholm captured the Sharon G. Milligan Female Athlete of the Year honor.

Combs participated during the indoor track season for the Oilers and made the most of his opportunity. He won a national championship during the indoor campaign in the weight throw and was a NCAA Division II All-American in both the weight throw and shot put.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Field Athlete of the Year, Combs, earned all-region accolades in the weight throw and shot put and won conference titles in both events. He was also named first team all-league for his efforts.

Cederholm capped off a great sophomore season by being named the G-MAC Swimmer of the Year. She broke four school records for the Oilers during the 2017-18 campaign and had a hand in winning five league titles. A first team all-conference selection, Cederholm was also named a NCAA Division II All-American in the 400-yard medley relay.
