Oilers Compete Against Toledo and Indianapolis

Results

Toledo, OH – The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Friday, October 19 against the University of Toledo and the University of Indianapolis. The University of Indianapolis proves to be a strong Division II competitor, with Rankings by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) ranking their men's team at no. 2 and the women at no. 7.

The women's team, ranked no. 23 in the country, was defeated by Toledo 159.0 to 72.0 and also fell to no. 7 Indianapolis, 127.0 to 110.0.

The men's team fell by a score of 201.0 to 40.0 to the Greyhounds, ranked no. 2 in the country.

Women's Results

Freshman Kendra Polewski had a great day in the pool, finishing first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.36. Her time was a 'B' standard and is the second-fastest time in division II this season. Polewski also had a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.90, which is 13th in the country this year. She also swam the 500 yard freestyle and came in first place with a time of 5:07.14.

Senior Amanda Stiegal placed third in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.78, and then later finished third again in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.50.

Junior Hanna Cederholm came in second place for the Oilers in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.25.

Findlay was able to finish the 200 yard medley relay in second place with a time of 1:47.24. The relay team consisted of Christina McFarland, Hanna Cederholm, Ashton Klopp, and Amanda Stiegal. The 200 yard freestyle relay was also a second place finish with a time of 1:42.03. The relay team consisted of McFarland, Julia Snell, Taylor Christensen, and Klopp.

Men's Results

Connor Whitaker was the third place finisher for the Oilers in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.18. Coming in close behind him in fourth was teammate Isaac Stretch with a time of 22.25.

Trae Gulgin took third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 53.04.

For the 400 yard IM, the Oilers took third as Jared Toaz came in with a time of 4:20.85.

 

The Oilers will be back in the pool on Saturday, October 27 at Saginaw Valley State at 1:00 PM.
