Oilers Take Down Eagles

Results

Ashland, OH – The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Saturday, November 3 against the Ashland Eagles. Both teams beat out the Eagles; the men scored 137 to 96 and the women earned 135 also to Ashland's 96.

Men's Results

The Oilers won eight events on the day to secure their victory over the Eagles.  

The first win of the day for the men came in the 400 yard medley relay with a final time of 3:36.75. The relay team consisted of Trae Gulgin, Isaac Stretch, Nathan Ladetto, and Nathan Bourne.

Trent Williams then went on to win the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22:02.

Dalton Shevlin won both the 1 meter and the 3 meter diving with scores of 238.62 and 235.57 respectively.

Conner Whitaker took first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53.97.

For the 100 yard backstroke, Trae Gulgin's first place time was 53.28.

Isaac Stretch edged out first place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.80.

The men finished the day with a first place win in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:14.76. The winning team consisted of Trent Williams, Conner Whitaker, Alex Matthews, and Mark Billeaud.

Women's Results

The Oilers won nine events on the day to beat out Ashland.

The women came out strong, winning the first race of the meet in the 400 yard medley relay. The relay team consisted of Chris McFarland, Hanna Cederholm, Kendra Polewski, and Amanda Stiegal. Their first place time was 3:57.81.

Sydney Zimdars then went on to win the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:09.48.

For the 50 yard freestyle, Amanda Stiegal was the winner with a final time of 24.90.

Hanna Cederholm's time of 2:09.55 was enough to take first in the 200 yard IM.

Alicia Solis won both the 1 meter and the 3 meter diving with scores of 194.32 and 222.37 respectively.

The 100 yard butterfly was won by Katy Kouvaris with a final time of 1:00.37.

Julia Snell edged out an Eagle to win first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.62.

The women finished out the day with a first place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.89. The swimmers for the relay were Polewski, Stiegal, McFarland, and Cederholm.

 

The Oilers will be swimming again on Saturday, November 10 against Hillsdale and Lewis in Hillsdale, Michigan. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
