McFarland Named Swimmer of the Week

Findlay, Ohio - University of Findlay freshman swimmer Christina McFarland has been named Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Swimmer of the Week following her performance at the Calvin Winter Invite this past weekend.

McFarland earned wins in both the 50 free and 100 backstroke, both of which were college-bests for the freshman. She swam her 50 free in the prelims in a time of 23.82 and later took fourth in the event finals. In the 100 backstroke she finished with a time of 56.22 in the finals to earn another personal-best and finish in third in the event. Both of these events met the B-standard as one of the nation's top times.

The Northfield, Ohio native also swam in the leadoff spot as a member of the 200 medley relay squad that took second with a time of 1:44.26. In that event, McFarland swam the 50-yard backstroke with a split time of 26.76.

This is the first Athlete of the Week honor for McFarland and is the sixth such award for the Oilers swimming and diving team this season.
