Oilers Compete in First Day of G-MAC Championship
Canton, Ohio – The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the first day of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship (G-MAC) on Wednesday, February 13. The Oilers finished the night in first place for both the men and women with scores of 447 and 346 respectively.
Men's Results
The Oilers finished second and third in the 200 yard IM. Nathan Bourne swam a final of 1:54.18 for a second place finish while teammate Nathan Landetto came in third, also with a final time of 1:55.26. Both Bourne and Landetto will receive Honorable Mention G-MAC honors for their finishes in the 200 yard IM race.
Trent Williams took fourth with a finishing time of 21.38 in the 50 yard freestyle final.
In the 200 yard medley relay final, the Oilers took first place with a final time of 1:32.66. The relay team consisted of Trae Gulgin, Isaac Stretch, Conner Whitaker, and Trent Williams.
Women's Results
Sydney Zimdars started out the night for the women by placing second in the 1000 yard freestyle final with time of 10:38.03. Teammate Taylor Christensen was right behind her, earning third place with a time of 10:38.33.
Hanna Cederholm took first place in the 200 yard IM final with a B-standard time of 2:05.33. The first place win was enough for Cederholm to secure a First Team All G-MAC title. She also beat the 2018 G-MAC Championship meet record of 2:04.48. Julia Snell came in fourth place with a time of 2:08.91.
In the 50 yard freestyle final, Amanda Stiegal was able to claim first place for the Oilers with a B-standard time of 23.72. Her time was enough to beat the 2018 G-MAC Championship meet record of 23.76 and earn her a First Team All G-MAC title. Chris MacFarland was able to take fourth place with a B-standard time of 24.03.
The Oilers finished out the first day of the G-MAC Championships with a first place win in the 200 yard medley relay. The team consisted of Chris MacFarland, Hanna Cederholm, Katy Kouvaris, and Amanda Stiegal. Their first place time of 1:43.25 beat out the 2018 G-MAC Championship meet record of 1:44.17.
The Oilers will compete in the second day of the G-MAC Championships starting at 10:00 AM on February 14 in Canton, Ohio.
