Oilers Complete Buckeye Tune-Up on Friday

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams completed the Buckeye Tune-Up on Feb. 20 in Columbus, Ohio.

On the men's side, Sergi Torres, Taylor Miller and Matias Trampe-Kindt each recorded second place finishes to lead the way.

Torres placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.43, Miller placed second in the shot put with a NCAA provisional toss of 18.45 meters and Trampe-Kindt was the runner-up in the 1000-meter run after crossing the finish line in 2:35.51.

Ben Hahler took fourth in the shot put with a provisional mark of 17.58 meters while Justin Welch (16.75m) and Mathieu Marcoccia (16.40m) took sixth and eighth, respectively in the event as well with provisional qualifying tosses.

Maliik Briggs was fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.67 while Dillon Webster placed seventh in the same event with a time of 23.10.

Miller took sixth in the weight throw with a provisional mark of 18.46 meters and Hahler added a seventh place finish in the same event with a provisional heave of 17.48 meters.

Derek Spindler finished fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 4.46 meters and Jacob Hayes was eighth in the mile run after speeding across the finish line in 4:18.60.

On the women's side, Liz Streacker took home a first place finish in the weight throw after achieving a provisional throw at 17.69 meters. Erica King took fifth place in the same event at 16.26 meters, narrowly missing the provisional mark of 16.34 meters.

Samantha Grippe placed third in the 800-meter run with a provisional time of 2:14.86 while Erica Bettac was sixth with a time of 2:19.48.

The Oilers 4x400-meter relay team of Kirsten Gaerke, Maud Sanmiquel, Laura Hernandez and Shelby Stump added a third place finish with a time of 3:53.48 while Taylor Ackerman was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.54 meters.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow at the Kent State Tune-Up in Kent, Ohio.
