Track Completes 1st Day of Raleigh Relays

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams kicked off their season on March 27 at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.

On the women's side, Kendra Averesch scored a first place finish in the shot put with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 15.33 meters and also finished 11th in the discus invitational event with a mark of 39.65 meters.

Lydia Guagenti tied for a top finish in the high jump invitational event after leaping to a provisional height of 1.69 meters while Pam Showman took fourth in the high jump at 1.60 meters.

On the men's side, Alexander Zolotoglavyy recorded a first place finish in the long jump invitational with a leap of 7.13 meters. Michael Bruce registered a fourth place finish in the same event at 6.86 meters.

Taylor Miller also had a good day for the Oilers, taking second in both the shot put and the discus throw. Miller finished second in the shot put with a provisional qualifying toss of 17.47 meters and got the silver in the discus with a mark of 48.10 meters.

Justin Welch finished fifth in the discus invitational, finishing with a provisional qualifying heave of 49.72 meters while Dillon Webster took sixth in the 400-meter run after crossing the finish line in 48.05.

Mathieu Marcoccia was eighth in the shot put with a provisional throw of 16.30 meters and Sergi Torres was ninth in the 400-meter at 48.15.

The Oilers will complete day two of the event tomorrow and also send athletes to the Yellow Jacket Open in Cedarville, Ohio.
