Track Finishes Day 1 of GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship on April 29 in Hillsdale, Mich.

Senior Pam Showman and junior Lydia Guagenti were the lone competitors in action for the women's squad on Thursday as they competed in several heptathlon events.

Showman took first in the 100-meter hurdles portion of the event, crossing the finish line in 14.16. She also won the shot put portion with a distance of 35'11.50 and finished first in the 200-meter with a time of 25.67.

Guagenti won the high jump part of the event with a mark of 5'08.00, which is good enough to reach NCAA provisional qualifying status.

On the men's side, Jake Miller competed in the decathlon. His highest finish came in the 400-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 51.20, which was good for third place.

The championship will continue again tomorrow and finish up on Friday.
