Track Wraps Up Last Chance Meet

Grand Valley Last Chance Results

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Grand Valley State University Last Chance Meet on May 9 in Allendale, Mich.

On the women's side, Taylor Ackerman secured a first place finish in the long jump with a NCAA provisional qualifying leap of 18'10.75. She also placed fourth in the triple jump at 36'06.50.

Maud Sanmiquel recorded a school record-breaking time of 59.82 in the 400-meter hurdles to achieve provisional status and teamed with Pam Showman, Laura Hernandez and Shelby Stump to take second in the 4x400-meter relay with a provisional time of 3:48.08. Showman also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a provisional time of 14.08.

Liz Streacker took sixth in the hammer throw with a provisional toss of 176'08 and also placed 16th in the discus at 136'06.

On the men's side, Sergi Torres won the 400-meter dash with a provisional time of 47.73 while Alexander Zolotoglavyy captured the gold in the long jump with a provisional leap of 24'05.00.

Brian Jennings was active on Saturday, finishing second in the discus with a provisional mark of 169'09. He also took seventh in the shot put (51'04.25) and 11th in the hammer throw (165'02).

Ben Hahler was third in the discus with a provisional throw of 165'07 and Derek Spindler was fifth in the pole vault at 14'11.

The Oilers will now await word on who has qualified to compete in the 2015 NCAA Division II National Championship. The championship event will be held on the campus of Grand Valley State on May 21-23.
