Track Racks Up 22 All-Region Awards

The University of Findlay men and women track and field teams combined to accumulate 22 all-region awards as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their annual outdoor awards on May 11.

The men's team had 11 individuals accumulate 14 all-region awards while the women saw seven individuals earn eight all-region accolades.

On the men's side, freshman Michael Bruce earned all-Midwest Region honors in both the long jump and triple jump while seniors Dillon Webster (800, 4x400) and Justin Welch (discus, hammer) also earned honors in two events.

Sophomores Maliik Briggs, Derek Collins and Sergi Torres were all-region in the 4x400 while fellow sophomores Ben Hahler and Alexander Zolotoglavyy earned the honor in the shot put and long jump, respectively. Seniors Demorrio Leggett (triple jump), Taylor Miller (shot put) and Mathieu Marcoccia (shot put) rounded out the other all-region performers.

On the women's side, junior Lydia Guagenti captured all-region accolades in both the high jump and heptathlon to lead the way.

Senior Taylor Ackerman (long jump), senior Kendra Averesch (shot put), junior Erica Bettac (steeplechase), junior Samantha Grippe (800) and senior Maud Sanmiquel (400 hurdles) also racked up all-region honors in their respective events as well.
