Track and Field Teams Travel to Tiffin

The University of Findlay men and women track and field teams traveled to Tiffin University on Saturday, Jan. 23 for the Tiffin Dragon Open.

Men

Sophomore Michael Bruce met the NCAA provisional for the triple jump after he leaped 49'03.75" to earn second place.

In the 400 meter dash, Junior Maliik Briggs finished first with a time of 50.72 and junior Derek Collins finished fourth with a time of 51.38.

Sophomore Sergi Torres also earned a first place finish in the 800 meter dash after finishing at the 1:58.42 mark.

Sophomore Trey Everett leaped his way to a NCAA provisional and a first place finish in the high jump after clearing 6'8.00".

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Briggs, Collins, Torres, and freshman George Effah met the NCAA provisional after finishing second at 3:20.03.

In the pole vault, senior Derek Spindler vaulted to a height of 15'0.25" to collect second.

Junior Alexander Zolotoglavyy jumped 22'06.25" in the long jump for another first place finish for the Oilers.

Throws

Junior Ben Hahler met the NCAA provisional in the shot put after a sixth place toss of 54'06.50".  Hahler also met the NCAA provisional in the weight throw with a heave of 57'10.05" to earn sixth.

Women

Senior Lydia Guagenti met the NCAA provisional in the high jump and received first place after soaring to 5'07.25."  Guagenti also placed fourth in the long jump after leaping 17'9.00".

Senior Samantha Grippe earned first place in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:21.45.

Sophomore Laura Hernandez placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.37.

Junior Torie Allgire cleared 11'0.25" in the pole vault to claim second place.

In the 60 meter hurdles, senior Maud Sanmiquel gathered third place at 8.95 and sophomore Milani Glass collected fifth place at 8.98.

Senior Erica Bettac finished third in the mile run after completing it in 5:29.07.

In the 200 meter dash, freshman Madison Stechshulte earned fifth place after finishing in 26.22.

The 4x400 meter relay consisting of Sanmiquel, Glass, Grippe, and Hernandez finished at 4:02.24 to place second.

Throws

Sohphomore Alex DeVincentis met the NCAA provisional in the shot put and earned third place after a 46'07.50" toss.

Freshman Holly Averesch also met the NCAA provisional in the shot put and collect fourth place after a 45'10.75" toss.

In the weight throw, three Oilers met the NCAA provisional mark after Junior Erica King finished third (58'04.50"), Junior Liz Streacker finished fifth (57'09.50"), and DeVincentis finished sixth (56'08.50").

The University of Findlay track and field teams return to action Friday Jan. 29th and Saturday Jan. 30th as they host the Findlay Classic.
