Oilers Compete in Raleigh Relays

On Friday, March 25th The University of Findlay men and women track and field teams traveled to North Carolina State University for the Raleigh Relays.  This meet featured over 100 institutions across all the NCAA divisions, with a total of 2,306 athletes competing.

Men Results

Senior Michael Bruce earned 4th and met the NCAA provisional mark and junior Alexander Zolotoglavyy grabbed 13th in the long jump after they competed in the invitational portion of the event and  respectively leaped a distance of 7.47m and 6.66m.

Junior Trey Everett collected 3rd place and met the NCAA provisional in the high jump after competing in the invitational portion of the event and clearing a height of 2.05m.  Everett also competed in the long jump, where he placed 9th with a leap of 6.66m.

In the 400 meter dash finals, sophomore Sergi Torres (47.66) earned 7th and met the NCAA provisional mark, sophomore George Effah (47.75) also provo'd and claimed 8th, junior Derek Collins (49.90) finished 43rd, and freshman Zach Jellison (50.46) placed 66th.

Jellison also competed in the 100 meter dash prelims and failed to qualify for the finals after running a time of 10.99 to finish 47th.

Women Results

Senior Lydia Guagenti earned 2nd and met the NCAA provisional mark in the high jump after competing in the invitational portion of the event with a height of 1.75m.

Guagenti also competed in the long jump where she finished 18th after a covering a distance of 5.23m.  Sophomore Milani Glass also competed in the long jump and placed 25th with a 5.05m jump.

In the 110 meter hurdle prelims, Glass (14.35) and senior Maud Sanmiquel (14.37) failed to qualify for the finals as they finished 19th and 20th respectively.  The top eight times advanced to the finals for this event.

In the 100 meter dash prelims, freshman Madison Stechshulte (12.11) and freshman Symphony Cooke (12.25) failed to reach the finals after finishing 26th and 35th respectively.

Sophomore Laura Hernandez placed 34th in the 400 meter dash finals with a time of 57.60.

The track and field teams return to action on Saturday, March 26th for day two of the Raleigh Relays with the running events and the field events both scheduled to begin at 10am.
