Penn Relays Underway

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams sent athletes to compete in the Penn Relays, which takes place on Thursday, April 28th and runs through Saturday, April 30th.  The Penn Relays play host to thousands of athletes from institutions across the nation in all NCAA divisions.

Thursday, April 28th Results

Women

Senior Maud Sanmiquel competed in the 400 meter hurdles and won her heat, earning 7th place overall with a time of 1:00.75.  Her time meets the NCAA provisional mark and currently is the 12th best time in the country.

The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of freshman Symphony Cooke, Sanmiquel, sophomore Milani Glass, and freshman Madison Stechshulte took 28th with a time of 47.36.

The 4x400 meter relay team featuring Sanmiquel, Glass, Stechshulte, and senior Samantha Grippe finished 50th with a time of 3:58.57.

Women's Field

Junior Erica King continued to perform well in the hammer throw.  She competed and won the championship division of the hammer throw.  Her throw of 58.59m (192'2) bested the competition and met the NCAA provisional mark.

This is the third University of Findlay athlete in the championship division of the hammer throw to win the event in the past three years.  Previous University of Findlay track and field standout, Justin Welch, won the Hammer Throw Championship in 2014 and 2015.

Junior Liz Streacker also competed in the event and placed 4th with a NCAA provisional throw of 56.37m (184'11).  Streacker competed in the discus throw as well, and finished 15th with a distance of 41.65m (136'7).

In the shot put, junior Alex DeVincentis claimed 2nd with a throw that measured 14.57m (47'9.75), which meets the NCAA provisional mark.

In the high jump, senior Lydia Guagenti finished 18th with a height of 1.63m (5'4.25).

The Oilers will continue to compete at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 29th with the running and field events set to begin at 9am.
