Oilers Compete in 2nd to Last Chance Meet

Results

Allendale, MI – The University of Findlay track and field teams participated in the Second to Last Chance Meet on the campus of Grand Valley State University on May 13. That leaves just one meet until the teams head to Florida for the national championship meet.

Women

Senior Samantha Grippe took third place in the 800 meter run with a provisional qualifying time of 2:10.26. She was also a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that took second place with a provisional qualifying time of 3:45.98. The others on the team were senior Maud Sanmiquel, sophomore Milani Glass, and sophomore Laura Hernandez.

Glass was also a participant in the 100 meter hurdles and took fifth place with a provisional time of 14.10.

Sophomore Alex DeVincentis continued her run in the shot put as she took home another first place finish with a provisional throw of 49'05.75".

Junior Liz Streacker was another provisional qualifier with a throw of 173'00" in the hammer throw. That distance earned third place.

Men

Junior Ben Hahler was a second place finisher in the discus throw where he met the NCAA provisional distance with a throw of 164'11". He also met the provisional distance in the shot put where he took fifth place with a distance of 56'03.25".

In the hammer throw, freshman Austin Combs, who has been performing well as of late, reached a provisional mark with a distance of 189'08".

Junior Trey .Everett took part in the long jump and finished fifth place as he reached a distance of 23'08.00".

Both teams will be back in action at the Last Chance Meet in Allendale tomorrow, May 14.
